Upcoming Marvel Cinematic Universe shows you did not know were coming

The Marvel Cinematic Universe started easily enough, making it easy for non comic fans to become fans of the likes of Spider-man or Thor on the big screen without going back to their comic book origins to get properly acquainted.

Alas, with block buster success fortunately or unfortunately comes great expansion. Roughly a decade after launch, the MCU now boasts a catalog of movies and TV shows that although not even close to the comic book source, is the biggest interconnection of a bunch of seemingly non connected movies to ever make it to the big screen. And that is quite a feat to pull off. With a bunch of blockbuster movies and TV shows lined up, it’s not hard for some upcoming Marvel shows to go un-noticed. I mean Infinity War and Avengers 4 are still many months away but still no one can seem to stop talking about them. Here is a list of upcoming shows you most likely did not know were coming.

 Marvel's Runaways, or simply Runaways, is an upcoming American web television series created for Hulu that is based on the Marvel Comics superhero team of the same name. It is set in the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU), sharing continuity with the films and other television series of the franchise.

The Runaways are six teenagers from different backgrounds who find out their parents are a secret group of super villains. Ultimately, they go on the run from both their villainous parents (known as the Pride) and super heroes who unaware of what is going on think they are just a group of troubled teens in need of rescuing.The series, consisting of 10 episodes, will premiere on November 21, 2017.

The Punisher. Giving the Punisher his own show was not originally a part of Marvel’s plan, while they had long term defenders shaped ideas for their main Netflix heroes, the breakout popularity of Jon Bernthal’s Frank Castle necessitated giving him his own violent corner of the MCU to fill with bullets. Punishers rumored release date is November 2017, but nothing has been confirmed by neither Netflix or Marvel. Bernthal himself has hinted that the first season might tell an origin story, taking place before his Daredevil debut.

 

New Warriors. Are sort of like a young young Avengers or Junior Avengers…Comics are complicated. With such naming conventions, who's to say we don’t eventually see a Young New Warriors tomorrow? The New Warriors is a Marvel Comics superhero team, traditionally consisting of teenage and young adult heroes. They often are seen to serve as a junior counterpart to The Avengers in much the same way that the New Mutants/X-Force did with the X-Men.

A live action half hour sitcom series based on the New Warriors is in development by Marvel Television and ABC Studios as part of the Marvel Cinematic Universe. The series received a direct-to-series order with 10 episodes and will debut on Freeform in 2018. The team will consist of Squirrel Girl, Mister Immortal, Night Thrasher, Speedball, Microbe, and Debrii. Reportedly, Squirrel Girl's sidekick Tippy Toe will also appear in the series

Marvel's Cloak & Dagger, or simply Cloak & Dagger, is an upcoming American cable television series created for Freeform and based on the Marvel Comics characters of the same name. It is set in the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU), sharing continuity with the films and other television series of the franchise. Official synopsis read: Tandy Bowen and Tyrone Johnson, two teenagers from different backgrounds, acquire superpowers while forming a romantic relationship. They soon realize that their powers work better when they are together, "but their feelings for each other make their already complicated world even more challenging.

The series, consisting of 10 episodes, will premiere in 2018.

 

The Gifted:  The Gifted, an upcoming American television series based on Marvel Comics' X-Men properties is connected to the X-Men film series, the second television series to be so (after Legion).

The series stars Stephen Moyer and Amy Acker as ordinary parents who take their family on the run after they discover their children's mutant abilities.

The Gifted is set to begin airing on October 2, 2017, for a 10 episode run.

I deliberately left out Marvel’s Inhumans here because I already reportedon it a while ago.
