The Wasp suit looks nothing like what was teased in the first Ant Man movie

Remember at the end of 2015’s Ant man, where Hope Van Dyne (Evangeline Lilly) looks at the Wasp suit and though she never mouths it, those familiar with how much the movie has in common with 2008’s Iron Man helped her say the famous words that
Terrence Howards character James Rhodes coined also at the end of Iron Man …“next time”?  Famous words that in a manner of speaking he did not stay true to because he (Howard) was replaced with Don Cheadle? So, if you are anything like me, I bet you were already bidding Evangeline Lilly goodbye seeing as they had so much in common, when the sequel rolled by, she’d have been replaced with Cher or Madonna. Well we all breathed a sigh of relief when months ago she (Lilly) was confirmed to be returning for the Ant Man sequel, and yesterday, we got our first look at Hope Van Dyne (Evangeline Lilly) in her Wasp suit where as it turns out, Marvel did in a fashion pull a switcheroo on us…see below.

Notice how different this suit is from the one we saw at the end of Ant-Man? Exactly how Howard was different to Cheadle in the Iron Man sequel. Most notable is that the yellow/gold coloring has been axed in favor of black and this suit has sleeves.

Ant-Man and The Wasp has Paul Rudd and Evangeline Lilly returning as Scott Lang and Hope Van Dyne. Also joining the cast, though, is Michelle Pfeiffer as Janet Van Dyne, the original Wasp and Hope’s mother. The 2015 movie told us that Janet was lost during a mission when she decided to shrink down to a subatomic size to stop a missile, leaving Hank Pym (Michael Douglas) a grumpy old man. With Pfeiffer on the cast, it seems like the story might revolve at least partly around Scott and Hope rescuing Janet from the “quantum realm” she was trapped in. If we’re lucky, Doctor Strange could even appear here – the quantum realm of Ant-Man has been confirmed as being connected to the one Steven Stranger’s adventures.
Ant-Man and The Wasp hits theaters on July 6, 2018.
