The 2018 update to the the reason 90% of gamers replace
their controllers and wives/girlfriends remain undecided on which they hate more (FIFA or side chicks) has just been released into the market and everyone is
absolutely bonkers with excitement.
Until they remember how much the Xbox One or
PS4 controllers now retail for in the country.
In their review which rates it 7/10, GameSpot wrote, "From the variety of game modes on offer and
how everything's presented, to the constant updates in FUT's Team of the Week,
Daily Objectives, and discussion of real-world happenings in commentary, FIFA
18 captures the world of football and confidently translates it into a video
game. On the pitch, however, EA's soccer series is still lagging far behind PES
2018's more fluid, satisfying football”. IGN on the other hand gave it an
8.1/10, saying, "A sharp focus on attack but few new additions make this a
spectacular if somewhat shallow experience.
The PlayStation 4 and Xbox One versions include a
continuation of "The Journey" a story-based mode that was originally
in FIFA 17 entitled "The Journey: Hunter Returns". The PlayStation 3
and Xbox 360 versions, known as FIFA 18: Legacy Edition, do not contain any new
gameplay features aside from updated kits and rosters.
FIFA 18 comes in 3 editions: Standard Edition, Ronaldo
Edition and Icon Edition which retail for $60, $80 and $100 respectively.
As at
the time of posting, the Standard Edition retails for NGN32k which I deem
something of a rip off considering $60 converts to roughly NGN22k. Any Naija
fan looking to purchase this is better off buying a soft copy straight from the
Xbox or Playstation store.
before i go, i have to ask, which is your poison, PES 18 or FIFA 2018? I've been more of a PES fan but everyone I know is on that FIFA wave so i'm looking at jumping ship.
