Are you ready for Android 10? Well specifically speaking not
you Samsung user, or you Sony, LG, or HTC user. Maybe you the Nokia One or
Oneplus user in a month or two. Nope, definitely not you Huawei. Okay let’s try
this again…are all 50 of you Pixel users around the world Ready. For. Android.
10!!!
A little over a week ago, chats between Google support reps
surfaced telling us to expect the official release of Android 10 to Pixels to
happen September 3rd. Then around Friday last week, someone slacked off on duty
over at Canadian carrier Rogers and inadvertently confirmed the roll out date of
Android Q10
For a short while, Rogers' public OS upgrade schedule
included the lines you can see screenshot below.
Apparently the carrier was not up to speed on the name
change or simply forgot to fill in on the update of Android 10 being the new
moniker of the upcoming Android Q. Realizing the mistake of making such
information public without Google having announced anything of the sort, Rogers
quickly removed all references to Google Pixels from its OS upgrade schedule
page, which confirms this was a hasty move to fix a slip-up because it makes no
sense for the Pixels not to be on that list at all.
The date seems
plausible enough, given that last year the company released Android 9 Pie on
the same day it would've normally outed the monthly security patches. And that
day in September of 2019 is the 3rd, as the 2nd is Labor Day in the US. Google
outs updates on the first Monday of every month, unless that is a holiday in
the States, in which case the release happens the day after.
After originally spotted on Friday, Rogers removed the
Android 10 launch date from its support site. Now, another Canadian carrier Telus
also pegs tomorrow for “Android Q + security update” on all eight Pixel phones.
