David Harbour's first look as Hellboy looks like the stuff of nightmares

Not too many people remember the movie Hellboy (or its sequel) starring Ron Perlman as the titular character? Oh you do? Well then I bet you know it was adapted from Dark Horse comics and there is an upcoming remake in the works but Perlman will not be reprising his role.
Instead, David Harbour (remember Chief of police Jim Hopper in Stranger Things?) will be playing the red half devil. The first look of Harbour as Hellboy makes Perlmans Hellboy take look like it was done by Marvel and Harbour’s DC…it looks no nosense dark. Have a see…

That image was tweeted by Mike Mignola, the artist who created the character, and he seems mighty positive about this new look (not that Ron Perlman’s Hellboy is anything to complain about)

For those not in the know, created by Mike Mignola, Hellboy, or "Anung Un Rama," as he was called, was conceived on October 5, 1617, by Sarah Hughes. In life, Sarah was a witch who gained her powers from being a consort of the demon Azzael, a duke of Hell who is Hellboy's "biological" father. Taking Sarah's body to hell when she attempted to repent on her deathbed within a church in East Bromwich, England, Azzael burned her away so their child would be born, and chopped off the newborn's right hand to replace it with the "Right Hand of Doom," a relic tied to the Ogdru Jahad. When the other princes of Hell learned of his actions, Azzael sent his half-demon child away while he was stripped of his powers and imprisoned in ice.

The upcoming remake is telling its own story though, with Hellboy traveling to England to fight an Arthurian sorceress called the Blood Queen. Other cast includes Ian McShane (Gods of America), Milla Jovovich (Resident Evil), and Daniel Dae Kim (Lost). The movie is slated for a 2018 release.
