Samsung rumored to be developing a cheaper variant of the Galaxy Note 8

The recently announced Samsung Galaxy Note 8 in a matter of hours has become one of the most googled and talked about smartphones of 2017, and for good reason too.
It is a spectacular phone with a slew of features, what is not to like? Price *cough cough*.  Okay, there is that, the price of the Galaxy Note 8 may end up being the reason this phone goes from most desirable to unattainable faster than a sales rep can say “it has a cool S-pen”. Rumor has it Samsung is one step ahead of us and may be outing a cheaper Note 8.

Apparently, the reason why the Note 8 is so expensive is that it delivers the best of everything Samsung has to offer. A jaw-dropping design, a larger Infinity Display than the S8 and S8+, high-end specifications  including a whopping 6GB of RAM. If Samsung was to cut back just a little bit, the handset could be cheaper.

And cutting back it seems they are. A filing submitted to Chinese regulator TENAA reveals Samsung has already developed a version of the Note 8 with 4GB of RAM. All other specifications remain the same, but that small change could mean that a more affordable version of the device becomes available in certain markets.

Right now, it’s unclear which markets — other than China — this handset could be destined for but no harm keeping our fingers crossed and hoping Naija makes the list of regions the cheaper Note 8 is headed to. I am a certified cheapo after all.
