List of devices by manufacturers that will be getting the Android-Oreo 8.0 update

The latest version of Android was unveiled about two weeks back at an event where Google revealed the statue of the Android-Oreo like it does every year with every Android version update.

In staying true to naming every version of the OS after desserts/confectionaries, the Android 8.0 is called Oreo. The Android Oreo update is ready for users and will make its way first to the existing line of Pixel smartphones, and the latest Nexus smartphones, i.e., the Nexus 6P and Nexus 5X; the updates are reportedly in carrier testing phase for these devices as of now.

For the unaware, all Android operating systems are named after desserts. And, just in case that wasn't nerdy enough for you, Google put these sugary names in alphabetical order.

Here's the edible Android timeline: Cupcake, Donut, Eclair, Froyo, Gingerbread, Honeycomb, Ice Cream Sandwich, Jelly Bean, KitKat, Lollipop, Marshmallow, Nougat and now Oreo

Naturally, not all devices from every phone manufacturer will be getting the Android Oreo 8.0 update so below is a list of phones by brands that will be getting the update. Try not to scream if after parsing through this list you do not find your phone, take heart, there is God.

BlackBerry officially confirmed that the BlacBerry Keyone will be getting the Android Oreo update soon, Sadly, there was no mention of the BB Priv or Aurora.

This is the reason why I’ve constantly advised against Chinese brands that have flooded the Naija tech scene thanks to their affordability. An affordability that it seems comes at a price. Brands like Tecno, Infinix, Partner etc. hardly ever push out updates, neither do they deem it necessary to put out lists of their phones that they plan to push updates to. And that just shows how little they value their customers in my book.
