We are 1 month away from the cant-seem-to-stay-out-of-the-news iPhone 8. It
is hard to believe it is almost here, let’s go ahead and cover the last week in
iPhone 8 leaks, news and rumors.
First, a new report claims there will only be three colors options for not
just the iPhone 8 but also the 7s and the 7s Plus this year namely
Black,
Silver and Gold which signals an RIP to the Rose Gold, Silver and Red color
variants from last year. The report further expatiates on the Gold variant saying
the supposed gold is copper toned and will be called blush gold (see picture
below). Apparently this new Gold tone is becoming a trend in the modern day smart
phone as some phones like the Nokia 6 already ship with this paint job.
The iPhone 8 will definitely be glass backed which further confirms or
validates that all 3 iPhones released this year will be come with the wireless
charging capability.
What will the next iPhone be called? A topic that has stirred a lot of
confusion. Even the actual developer who found a lot of the home pod code
referencing the iPhone 8 is saying it is unlikely to be called the iPhone Pro. Although
another analyst disagrees with that saying it is more than likely it WILL be
called the iPhone Pro, and goes into further detail saying that the iPhone 7s
naming scheme will not exist at all. There will be a different naming scheme
for that iPhone because people have come to regard “s” variants as incremental
updates to the previous year’s version, but this year, the updates will be far
from incremental. The article says it is more than likel the 2017 line up of
iPhones will be called simply the iPhone, iPhone Pro and iPhone Plus or iPhone
8, iPhone 8 Pro and iPhone 8 Plus. Either of these naming schemes seem more
plausible as opposed to a 7s and 8 line up existing in the same year if you ask
me.
What naming scheme do you think better suits the 2017 iPhone line up?
